Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Histology Technician or Histotechnologist to join our team in the Histology Laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing microscope slides for pathologists to review, using a variety of techniques and equipment. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.
Responsibilities- Prepare microscope slides for pathologists to review, using techniques such as accessioning, specimen processing, and microtomy.
- Perform technical staining procedures, including routine Hematoxylin and Eosin, special stains, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemical staining.
- Participate in on-call rotations, including weekends as needed.
- Assist with the training of students and new employees.
- Collaborate with team members to foster an inclusive work environment and respect diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
- Associates Degree required for Histology Technician (HT) role.
- Bachelor's Degree required for Histotechnologist (HTL) role.
- Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) required for both HT and HTL roles.
- Graduate of a NAACLS accredited program preferred.
Mayo Clinic offers a competitive compensation package, including a minimum pay rate of $24.75 per hour for Histology Technician and $30.25 per hour for Histotechnologist. We also provide opportunities for career advancement, continuing education, and professional growth.
