Job Overview

Objective: The primary role of this position is to safeguard the assets of We Florida Financial by identifying and recovering overdue consumer loans, mortgage loans, and negative share/share draft accounts. This is achieved through managing incoming calls, initiating outbound communications, and meeting monthly recovery targets. The Member Services Collection Specialist will employ relevant technical expertise, continuously update their skills, and strive to enhance service capabilities. This role necessitates the ability to make decisions within set guidelines, a readiness to operate in a performance-driven collection environment, and the capacity to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Engage with delinquent members through various communication methods to address their consumer loan/credit card and negative share/share draft accounts.
  2. Issue collection notices to members in compliance with FDCPA regulations.
  3. Document all collection activities undertaken.
  4. Coordinate vehicle loan repossessions following established protocols.
  5. Investigate posting and transaction discrepancies.

Additional Duties:

  1. Conduct skip tracing efforts as necessary.
  2. Assist in maintaining accurate collections records according to established practices.
  3. Negotiate settlements with members and debt relief organizations.
  4. Support external collections agencies and legal representatives.
  5. Stay informed on legal and regulatory matters that may impact the loan department.
  6. Cross-train to acquire knowledge of other responsibilities.
  7. Provide debt and financial counseling following established guidelines.
  8. Execute specific and delegated tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Knowledge Required:

  • Understanding of collections, lending, and financial regulations including FDCPA, FCRA, SCRA, and UDAAP.
  • Familiarity with collections platforms such as Akuvo, eOscar, and Meridian Link.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams and Outlook.

Skills Needed:

  • Vision: Ability to complete necessary documentation.
  • Communication: Proficient verbal communication with staff, members, and vendors.
  • Manual Dexterity: Competence in performing required computer-related tasks.
  • Physical Mobility: Requires significant hand and arm coordination, as well as skilled body positioning.

Abilities:

  • Comprehend and follow complex written and verbal instructions.
  • Retain and understand intricate functions and procedures.
  • Articulate thoughts clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Prepare and maintain confidential records and reports.
  • Gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze information to develop solutions.
  • Analyze statistical and financial data effectively.

Education and Experience:

A high school level of proficiency in language, mathematics, and reasoning skills is required. A minimum of two years of experience in a related field with comparable responsibilities is acceptable. Formal training should be complemented with ongoing education and self-development initiatives.
