Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Nutrition Specialist to join our team at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. As a key member of our nutrition care team, you will be responsible for assessing the nutrition status of pediatric patients, developing and implementing personalized nutrition care plans, and providing education and counseling to patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Nutrition Assessment and Care Planning: Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments of pediatric patients, including performance of a nutrition-focused physical exam, and develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans to address identified nutrition diagnoses.
  • Nutrition Education and Counseling: Provide education and counseling to patients, families, and caregivers on healthy eating habits, nutrition-related health conditions, and disease management.
  • Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Work closely with healthcare providers, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive care and coordination of services.
  • Documentation and Communication: Accurately document patient information, nutrition care plans, and progress in the medical record, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with evidence-based nutrition practice guidelines, attend continuing education opportunities, and participate in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or related field.
  • Certifications: Registered Dietitian (RD) or Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist (LDN) certification.
  • Experience: Less than 1 year of experience in pediatric nutrition or related field.
