Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health Sciences Librarian to join our team at InsideHigherEd. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing library services to the Health Sciences programs, including Applied Health Sciences, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Nutrition Science, Sport Management, Athletic Training, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician's Assistant Studies, and Nursing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide reference service at scheduled times and participate in collection development and library instruction responsibilities.
  • Teach course-integrated instructional sessions for students, faculty, and staff, which may include team-teaching.
  • Prepare instructional materials in a variety of modalities, maintain content in digital tools like LibGuides, and collaborate with others when appropriate.
  • Participate in local, state, and national library organizations, when appropriate and funds permit.
  • Fulfill other job-related duties as assigned by designated supervisor(s).
Requirements

  • Excellent speaking and writing skills, as well as interpersonal and organizational skills, are required.
  • Strong supervisory skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of access and technical services functions and workflows is required.
  • Ability to collect, organize, and interpret statistical data for effective library system planning.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a staff where cooperation and teamwork are essential.
Education and Experience

A Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution is required. Work experience or education in the Health Sciences is required, and reference experience and knowledge of online and print resources and services are also required. Teaching or library instruction experience is strongly preferred, and collection development experience in an academic library setting is also preferred.
