The Medical Assistant reports directly to the Center Administrator and is responsible for delivering routine patient care within their training scope, operating under the guidance of the clinical supervisor and/or physician in accordance with applicable state regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Demonstrates exceptional behavior and communication skills that reflect a commitment to outstanding customer service, ensuring quality and concern for every internal and external customer.Under the supervision of a physician, administers medications, provides immunizations, performs EKGs, ear washes, and other patient services. Assists in minor surgical procedures and educates patients and/or families as directed by the physician.Conducts venipuncture under the direction of a physician or advanced care practitioner.Contacts patients as necessary to relay test results and instructions from the physician, as well as to schedule required visits. Manages telephone inquiries and triages calls. Responsible for all laboratory duties, including drawing, spinning, and prepping blood for testing while maintaining accurate logs. Acts as a liaison between independent lab services and the center.Employees will be recognized and rewarded for their performance in an environment that challenges them and provides clear guidance on achieving success in their roles, as well as opportunities for development in other areas of interest.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (AHA) or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross) certification at the time of hire or within 30 days of hire.Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or the ability to obtain certification within 180 days of employment. Medical Assistants hired prior to certification are expected to perform at the same level as a certified Medical Assistant.Bilingual in English and Spanish.Preferred Qualifications:
Two or more years of relevant back-office medical assisting experience.Strong phlebotomy skills.If the hired individual resides in Florida, this position requires the AHCA Level II background check (fingerprinting) by the State of Florida for all clinicians with direct face-to-face contact with members or employees who will have access to confidential patient data, with renewal every five years.
