We are seeking a skilled Gate Removal Operator to join our team at Precision Castparts. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently removing gating systems from castings using air carbon arc torches and other specialized equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Verify correct lot numbers and serialization, and review Technique Cards to ensure accurate processing.
- Operate air carbon arc torches in burnout booths to cut and separate gating systems from parts, achieving close tolerances and minimizing damage to castings.
- Clean shell material from around gatings using pneumatic tools, and mix protective coatings to safeguard castings.
- Cut off, clean, document, and verify test bars for proper identification and routing.
- Sort gating by metal alloy for revert processing, and remove gating and test bars using abrasive saws.
- Section cut castings and gatings for evaluation by engineering as needed.
- Experience with air carbon arc torches or welding equipment.
- Three to six months of experience in cleaning operations and demonstrated ability to perform precision tasks without damaging parts.
- Ability to read and interpret Technique Cards, routers, and other special instructions.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to resolve problems and share information with others.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
This position requires working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and other hazards. The successful candidate must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
