Flex Operator

Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) is seeking a skilled and customer-focused individual to operate a small transit vehicle as part of COTA Plus, an on-demand ride service managed on a mobile app. The successful candidate will transport customers safely, courteously, and in a timely manner while following navigation directions from GPS.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operating a small transit vehicle in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws while transporting customers in assigned zones;
- Safely picking up and dropping off customers traveling from work, education, recreation, COTA bus line stops, etc.;
- Managing mobile app navigational directions from GPS and managing routes;
- Safely assisting passengers, utilizing wheelchairs or other mobility devices, upon entering and exiting the vehicle; operates wheelchair lift and properly secures wheelchairs, while adhering to ADA guidelines;
- Demonstrating the ability to deal with unforeseen circumstances, or delays, peacefully and professionally; uses advanced driving techniques to better improve time management and safety;
- Ensuring a neat appearance, professional demeanor, customer-friendly attitude, and a desire to exceed expectations;
- Ensuring the vehicle is maintained in excellent condition and cleaned regularly.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED certificate and one (1) year of professional driving or customer service experience (an equivalent combination of educational achievement/coursework and relevant work experience may be considered qualifying in lieu of education and/or experience);
- Must have at least one (1) year of licensed driving experience in the United States; or at least three (3) years if under the age of 23.
