Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Professional to join our team at CSL Plasma. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for evaluating donor suitability, administering immunizations, and providing emergency medical care to donors and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct confidential interviews with donors to assess suitability for plasma donation
  • Administer approved immunizations and provide emergency medical care to donors and staff
  • Collaborate with the Center Medical Director and/or Center Physician to respond to medically related questions and provide information on donor suitability
  • Perform medical history reviews and health assessments on donors
  • Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results
  • Explain informed consent to applicant donors and obtain signature and date certifying informed consent
  • Handle medical emergencies at the Center and elevate situations to Center Physician or local medical service providers as required
  • Review test results and determine continued donor suitability
  • Assess signs and symptoms a donor may exhibit that may result in the inability to continue donating
  • Manage employee hepatitis B and influenza immunization program, including administration of immunizations
  • Ensure the accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system
  • Maintain a clean and efficient work environment and ensure sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information

Requirements:

  • Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school, or naturopathic medical training program
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in a healthcare environment
  • Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to make decisions that have a moderate impact on the immediate work unit
  • Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions
  • Must be able to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation
  • Occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of the time
  • Examine and assess the skin and other abnormalities through sight, touch, and smell
  • Reach, bend, kneel, and have a high level of manual dexterity
  • Occasionally be required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
