Pediatric Nutrition Specialist

The Clinical Dietitian II at CHOC - Children's Health Orange County provides age-appropriate nutrition care with an emphasis on family-centered care through expert practice, education, consultation, research, and leadership.
Responsibilities- Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, serving as a resource for medical and nursing staff, ancillary team members, and community providers.
- Utilizes clinical practice and knowledge of advanced pediatric specialty nutrition, the nutrition care process, and medical nutrition therapy to provide evidence-based nutrition care.
- Develops and implements personalized nutrition plans for patients, taking into account their unique needs and circumstances.
- Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and optimal patient outcomes.
- Stays up-to-date with the latest research and developments in pediatric nutrition, applying this knowledge to improve patient care and outcomes.
- Minimum three (3) years of pediatric nutrition experience, (6) years of total acute care experience, or combination of pediatric and acute care experience as approved by the clinical Nutrition Director.
- Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Dietetics or Nutrition-related field from an accredited university.
- California Children's Services (CCS) panel-eligible within two (2) years of employment.
- Minimum of one (1) advanced practice specialty certification or graduate degree.
- Pediatric gastroenterology nutrition experience.
- Running a teaching kitchen and experience providing cooking demonstrations.
- Creating educational materials and digital content.
- Comfortable presenting in front of an audience or on camera.
- Nutrition program development.
- Working with patients one on one and in groups to provide personalized approach to meal planning and cooking.
Light - Moderate energy level. Lift and carry 25-35 lbs. Push/pull lbs. (ie. empty bed, stretcher).
Physical Activity RequirementsBending, Carry Objects, Climbing, Keyboard use/repetitive motion, Pinching/fine motor activities, Push/Pull, Reaching forward, Reaching overhead, Sitting, Squat/kneel/crawl (Squat & Knee), Standing, Talk or hear, Taste or smell, Twisting, Walking, Wrist position deviation.
Sensory RequirementsColor Discrimination, Depth Perception, Far Vision, Hearing, Near Vision.
Environment RequirementsAirborn Communicable Disease, Bloodborne Pathogens, Chemical, Dust Particular Matter, Extreme Noise Levels, Extreme Temperatures, Radiation, Uneven Surfaces or Elevations.
