As an ABA Insurance Authorization Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient processing of insurance claims and authorizations for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for ABA services in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Obtain authorizations from insurance companies for initial assessments, ongoing treatments, and additional services as needed.
  • Maintain and update authorization deadlines for all services.
  • Review and interpret insurance policies to determine and document coverage limitations and exclusions.
  • Communicate effectively with insurance companies and/or billing teams to resolve issues related to claims and authorizations.
  • Collaborate with the intake, clinical, and billing teams to ensure timely and accurate submission of necessary documentation.
  • Perform re-authorization and eligibility checks in a timely manner.
  • Maintain detailed records of authorizations, claims, and communications with insurance providers.
  • Stay updated on changes in insurance regulations, policies, and procedures related to ABA services.
  • Provide support and guidance to clients and their families regarding insurance coverage and authorization processes.
  • Notify Client Services Management regarding lack of payer coverage or other service non-coverage issues.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree or higher in a relevant field preferred.
  • Minimum of one year's experience in medical billing, insurance verification, or authorization coordination, within an ABA or healthcare-related field required.
  • Strong working knowledge of insurance portals and insurance terminology.
  • Familiarity with various insurance carriers, including Medicaid billing processes.
  • Certification in medical billing or healthcare administration preferred.
  • Experience with electronic health record systems (ERMS), preferably Central Reach, required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated commitment to upholding ethical standards and promoting a positive workplace culture characterized by fairness, respect, and inclusivity.
  • Ability to work effectively and stay solution-oriented within a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to work effectively cross-functionally within all levels in the organization.
  • Strong proficiency with E-Signature Softwares, Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook), and G Suite.
  • Proven organizational skills through strong time management and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with timely response rates.
  • Strong customer service skills, including professionalism, patience, and a positive attitude.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality practices.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle challenges related to insurance claims and authorizations.
