2nd Floor Cancer Hospital
Adult Surgical Oncology: 2nd Floor Cancer Hospital
Gynecological Oncology: 1st Floor Women's Hospital
This is a Per Diem position, requiring a commitment of at least 12 hours every two weeks, with operational hours from 8 AM to 5 PM, excluding weekends and night shifts, and closed on major holidays.
The ideal candidate should be available for a minimum of two days each week.
Key responsibilities include assisting healthcare professionals in patient care delivery, transporting patients and equipment, preparing and maintaining patient rooms, and performing various clerical, transcription, and administrative tasks within the patient care unit.
Responsibilities also involve assisting physicians and healthcare providers during routine examinations and procedures, as well as managing the procurement of necessary equipment and supplies.
Critical review of patient care documentation is essential, noting any significant changes in patient conditions and promptly reporting to a registered nurse or physician.
Clerical duties include organizing and prioritizing tasks, greeting and directing visitors, conducting research as requested by nursing and medical staff, reviewing orders for accuracy, revising orders as needed, answering telephones and patient call lights, transcribing physician orders, and maintaining medical records.
Additional duties involve performing routine quality assurance audits, safety checks, and inventory management of supplies, alongside providing administrative support, including performance improvement audits and data entry.
Clinical support tasks may include maintaining cleanliness in work areas, managing office equipment, troubleshooting common software and hardware issues, changing linens, checking supply inventory, restocking supplies, transporting patients, specimens, and assisting in the orientation of new staff and students.
Responsibilities may also extend to specimen collection, skin preparations, catheter care, capillary blood glucose checks, basic wound care, range of motion exercises, and postural drainage.
Reinforcement of routine patient education provided by registered nurses or physicians is crucial, along with documenting patient comprehension of instructions and distributing educational materials as requested.
Qualifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Minimum of six months of clerical or customer service experience.
- Proficiency in verbal and written English is essential.
- Ability to develop computer skills if not already competent.
