Job Summary

The Multicraft Maintenance Technician is a critical role responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex industrial equipment, machinery, and systems. This position requires expertise in multiple trades, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and other relevant areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Focus: Prioritize self and team members' safety in all aspects of the job.
  • Complex Systems Troubleshooting: Cross-functionally diagnose and repair complex industrial systems with electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical systems.
  • Auxiliary Infrastructure Systems: Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot/repair compressed air, cooling water, vacuum, and carton systems.
  • Component Rebuilding: Identify, determine, and rebuild components such as pumps, valves, electronics, solenoids, gearboxes, vacuum systems as needed.
  • Test Equipment Utilization: Use multi-meters and test equipment to test motors, test and reset breakers/replace fuses, and variable frequency drives. Wire and install motors, sensors, drives as needed for replacement.
  • PLC Troubleshooting: Utilize Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to troubleshoot equipment sensors and processes.
  • Maintenance Shop Tools: Fabricate machine parts using maintenance shop tools.
  • Project Work: Perform installation of equipment, repairs/improvements to building infrastructure, and other facility areas.
  • Emergency Support: Provide off-duty call-in support for emergency/breakdown situations.
  • Process Improvement: Make suggestions/improvements to increase effectiveness of operations in the plant.
  • Preventive and Corrective Work: Perform preventive and corrective work as directed, notably on support equipment.
  • Communication: Communicate with production supervisors and other team members frequently for needs of machine repair.
  • Documentation: Properly document all/any changes made to equipment.
  • Training and Development: Continuously train and learn new subject areas to improve own skillset. Train team members on equipment maintenance practices, operation, and safe work practices.
  • Food Safety and Quality: Follow food safety and quality guidelines to improve and protect.
  • Self-Motivation and Accountability: Demonstrate self-motivation, accountability, and ability to communicate with team members.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Cross-Functional Training: Cross-functionally trained in mechanical and electrical areas with 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Vocational Education: Vocational education and/or training in machine repair, industrial electricity, or equivalent programs from an accredited school with 2+ years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience.
  • Language Skills: Read, write, and speak English.
  • Pre-Employment Test: Complete pre-employment mechanical aptitude test.
  • Safety Focus: Demonstrate a safety-first focus.
  • Cross-Functional Knowledge: Possess cross-functional knowledge in a few of the following areas:
    • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and plastic processing equipment.
    • Knowledge of utility system components, including compressed air systems, cooling water systems, vacuum systems, etc.
    • Knowledge of plant electrical systems, including NFPA 70e qualifications.
    • Knowledge of PLC controls/electronics for automation equipment.
    • Knowledge in industrial vision systems to assist with setups/troubleshooting of defects.
    • Qualification to use maintenance shop tools to fabricate parts, including the use of vertical mill/drill presses, brake/shear, and MIG/TIG welders.
    • Prior plastics experience desirable, specifically with experience in operation and maintenance of compression molding equipment.
  • Tools and Equipment: Possess tools required for industrial maintenance, with exception of specialty, power tools, and machine shop tools.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to work at heights (Passing fall protection and mobile elevated work platform training required). Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work in different positions throughout shift.
