About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Building Engineer to join our Operations and Maintenance division at Complete Building Services. As a Building Engineer, you will be responsible for performing preventive and general maintenance, as well as troubleshooting, at one of our facilities in Fairfax, VA. The working hours for this position are 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of systems and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform scheduled preventative and general maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failures and downtime.
  • Maintain equipment to industry standards, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
  • Collaborate with building managers and other stakeholders to ensure client satisfaction and resolve any issues promptly.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on system status and work completed, as directed by your supervisor.
  • Purchase materials and supplies, and maintain inventory to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Operate and maintain HVAC, electrical, and security systems, as well as associated hardware and equipment.
  • Perform predictive maintenance on assigned equipment to prevent breakdowns and outages.
  • Accurately document work performed on tickets and work orders.

Requirements
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience operating and maintaining commercial buildings in the last 5 years.
  • Proven experience in building operations, with a strong focus on troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with equipment such as air-cooled chillers, hot water boilers, VAV boxes, and cooling towers.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to work with various software systems.
  • Able to perform PM maintenance on all mechanical equipment.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with equipment maintenance, including filter changes, bearing greasing, and valve repairs.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • NAPE classes or equivalent experience.
