Patient Care Technician I Job Description

UTMB Health is seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician I to join our team in League City, Texas. As a Patient Care Technician I, you will provide basic technical assistance and supportive patient care to meet the needs of individual patients throughout assigned areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collects, reports, and documents data related to patient needs and emergencies.
  • Provides for patients' personal hygiene, including bathing, oral suctioning, and superficial wound care.
  • Assists with feeding, ambulation, and positioning patients.
  • Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times.
  • Provides and maintains a clean, safe environment and performs and/or assists others to perform proper aseptic technique, isolation procedures, and infection control measures.
Requirements:
  • High school or equivalent AND completion of one of the following technical programs: Nurse Assistant, Medical Assistant, Medical Corpsman, EMT, or UTMB Hospital Aide Training Program.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a direct patient care environment OR Certified MA, PCT, or CNA at time of hire.
  • Is enrolled in a recognized School of Nursing and has completed the first semester of education which contains clinical concepts and health assessment or the equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • BLS certification.
Work Schedule:

Night shift.
