Hospice Service Assistant

We are seeking a compassionate and organized individual to join our team as a Volunteer New Mexico. This role involves providing patient support services in various settings, including home care, respite, inpatient, bereavement, and administrative environments.
About the Position
This non-compensated position requires a mature individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will work under the guidance of the Volunteer Coordinator and Case Manager to deliver patient care and support services according to your experience and training.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Serve as an integral member of the interdisciplinary group, collaborating with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care and support services.
* Participate in general orientation and receive education on hospice care and support services, ensuring you have the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in this role.
* Provide substitute family/caregiver support in the home, performing tasks such as homemaker chores, running errands, and providing respite care, as instructed.
* Document all interactions and maintain confidentiality, adhering to Harmony Home Health & Hospice policies and procedures.
* Meet all health requirements set by Harmony Home Health & Hospice and provide regular availability for patient needs, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in this role.
* Engage in volunteer support groups and educational in-services to enhance your skills and knowledge, staying up-to-date with industry developments and best practices.
* Maintain open communication and report regularly to the Volunteer Coordinator, ensuring seamless coordination with the interdisciplinary team.
* Perform other duties as directed by the Volunteer Coordinator, contributing to the smooth operation of the hospice care service.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Previous healthcare experience is preferred but not required; however, successful completion of the Harmony Home Health & Hospice volunteer training and orientation program is mandatory.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for success in this role, enabling effective collaboration with healthcare professionals and patients alike.
* Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision and possess a pleasant and cooperative attitude towards colleagues, physicians, and external customers.
