Under the direction of a registered nurse, the Patient Care Associate plays a vital role in providing clinical support functions to promote a safe and compassionate patient care environment.
Key Responsibilities- Implement patient care plans as directed by registered nurses.
- Provide patient physical care, including bed baths, toileting, grooming, and changing bed linens, in accordance with established guidelines.
- Assist with patient general care, such as positioning, lifting, and turning, and using adaptive and transfer equipment as needed.
- Perform patient monitoring activities, including vital signs and blood glucose checks, in accordance with established guidelines.
- Prepare patients for meals and assist with feeding as needed.
- Perform regular patient rounds and respond promptly to call lights to meet patients' needs.
- Document patient care in a timely manner, adhering to established standards.
- Organize patient rooms to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Collect and label specimens in accordance with established procedures.
- Provide mentoring and teaching to new nursing assistants to meet performance expectations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; nursing assistant certification preferred.
- Recent experience and/or training in clinical patient care required.
- Enrollment in a nursing program or possession of a valid license/certification in a related field preferred.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Basic skills in math and computer science.
- Ability to perform, modify, and record physical therapy skills with relevance to thoroughness and sequencing.
- Healthcare Provider CPR certification required.
This role requires working in a fast-paced healthcare environment with frequent exposure to bloodborne pathogens, hazardous materials, and infectious diseases.
The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing situations while maintaining a high level of service delivery and attention to detail.
