Position Overview: This role is responsible for overseeing, managing, and coordinating the activities of delivery personnel within the organization. This includes scheduling staff, ensuring timely customer deliveries, and adhering to relevant transportation regulations at both state and federal levels. Responsibilities may be executed directly or through subordinate managers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily operations of delivery staff, including assignment of routes and vehicles, as well as managing customer deliveries and vendor pickups.
- Ensure adherence to all USDOT regulations and other relevant compliance standards concerning vehicle operation, maintenance, and necessary medical certifications.
- Provide training to delivery personnel to meet established standards and conduct regular performance evaluations.
- Maintain necessary driver documentation as mandated by USDOT.
- Update and manage work schedules for delivery staff.
- Ensure that all vehicles are maintained to cleanliness and operational standards.
- Report any service issues to the leasing company.
- Address and resolve customer complaints, including immediate problem-solving and coordinating with sales personnel for corrective actions as needed.
- Train delivery staff in all facets of material handling, both on and off the vehicle.
- Continuously assess employee performance, including scheduled road tests, and provide necessary feedback and coaching.
- Oversee accident investigations and insurance reporting in collaboration with the Operations Manager and other relevant parties.
- Monitor dispatch logs and vehicle tracking systems to ensure compliance with schedules, and manage the preparation and retention of operational records.
- Maintain accurate mileage records for tax and leasing purposes.
- Achieve proficiency in the primary sales processing software and associated systems.
- Drive delivery routes during peak periods as necessary to fulfill operational obligations.
- Conduct regular meetings to communicate new procedures and company-wide updates, collaborating with Operations, Product, Purchasing, and Sales teams to ensure accurate information dissemination.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in logistics or transportation management.
