The Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. As a key member of the healthcare team, the Respiratory Therapist is responsible for coordinating and delivering respiratory care services to patients with a wide range of respiratory conditions.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform and document patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
- Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for and response to respiratory therapy.
- Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
- Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patients for therapeutic response and notify providers and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
- Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations, ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or ACLS Instructor certification or State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Licensed Certified Respiratory Therapist (LCRT) or RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT/RCP) must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification or BCLS Instructor certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification or PALS Instructor certification must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date.
