Surgical Technologist I

At McLaren Health Care, we are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technologist I to join our team. As a Surgical Technologist I, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth execution of surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Scrub for cases according to established sterile procedures and change into appropriate operative attire.

• Assist the surgeon with draping of the patient, maintaining sterile technique.

• Pass instruments, sponges, sutures, and other sterile supplies and equipment as needed.

• Receive surgical specimens, place in appropriate container, and fixative (if required) at the end of the procedure.

• Count sponges, needles, and instruments according to policy.

• Clean the surgical suite according to established protocol, ensuring that all disposable items are placed in the appropriate bags.

• Provide visualization of the operative site during the operative procedure.

• Assist in providing hemostasis to the surgeon.

• Expedite the operative procedure by anticipating the needs of the surgeon.

Requirements:

• Must possess knowledge of sterile technique and anatomy and physiology, normally acquired by graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist Program or at least 2 years of experience in a like-sized or larger surgical program with similar surgical cases.

• BLS Certification.

Preferred:

• Two years of experience.
