The role of the Medical Assistant is crucial in delivering exceptional patient-centered services within a collaborative team atmosphere. This position involves direct communication with patients and performing clinical tasks to guarantee high-quality care in a dynamic setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Direct Patient Engagement

  • Facilitates and delivers clinical care services to patients.
  • Records patient vital signs and gathers essential intake information.
  • Conducts clinical procedures, including blood draws, vaccinations, nebulizer treatments, ear lavages, and EKGs.
  • Addresses patient inquiries and provides educational resources directly.
  • Maintains cleanliness and readiness of examination rooms for procedures.

Support for Providers and Team

  • Streamlines provider workflows to enhance patient care efficiency.
  • Ensures that providers have all necessary information for patient visits, including diagnostic images and lab results.
  • Assists various care teams in women’s health, pediatrics, and general medicine as required.

Clinical Administration Duties

  • Utilizes electronic health records to manage and document treatment plans as directed by providers.
  • Communicates patient information via phone or email under the guidance of a provider or Registered Nurse.
  • Provides patients with necessary documents after verifying their accuracy and completeness.
  • Completes ongoing training to ensure compliance with position requirements.

Compliance and Safety Standards

  • Adheres to safety protocols as outlined in the organization’s Illness and Injury Prevention Plan and reports any unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Maintains current knowledge of policies related to safe work practices.
  • Follows all infection control procedures and ensures patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Reports any unethical or unlawful behavior promptly.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • Valid Medical Assistant certification from an accredited institution is required.
  • Current BLS certification is necessary upon hire.
  • Preferred: Minimum of one year of relevant experience.

Additional Skills and Attributes:

  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish or English/Arabic) is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures is beneficial.
  • Experience with electronic health records systems is preferred.
  • Strong computer and data entry skills are essential.
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion and professionalism in patient interactions.
  • Capacity to manage confidential information ethically and professionally.
  • Physical ability to lift/carry up to 15 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Additional Requirements: Candidates must possess a watch with a second hand for monitoring pulse and respiratory rates during patient assessments.

Compensation: $32.55 per hour, based on experience.
