Position Overview:

The role involves executing intricate accounting tasks associated with financial reporting, analysis, and interpretation. This position will also provide strategic insights to management and offer guidance to fellow finance department members concerning these responsibilities.

Utilizes accounting principles to scrutinize financial data and generate comprehensive financial reports. Responsible for maintaining and/or supervising the accounts and records for expenditures, tax obligations, and revenue. Compiles and evaluates financial data to document transactions, prepare reports, and ensure accuracy through verification. Prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements, consolidated financial statements, and various accounting schedules and reports. May design, modify, implement, and/or sustain accounting systems to guarantee proper recognition of financial transactions. Ensures compliance with and communicates accounting and auditing policies and procedures. Reports directly to the Controller.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate month-end closing activities, maintain the general ledger, create monthly journal entries, and reconcile accounts.
  • Generate and analyze internal reports, providing summaries and recommendations to management regarding financial activities, outcomes, and operational trends.
  • Prepare reports on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Assist in the development of product costs and calculations for cost savings, including budgeting, forecasting, and activity rates.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Financial and ERP systems, with the ability to perform data mining.
  • Support the management of fixed assets, including capitalizations, disposals, monthly depreciation/amortization, and researching appropriate accounting treatments for complex transactions related to fixed assets.
  • Oversee inventory accounting, including the review of reserves for potential excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and collaboration with team members, colleagues, production staff, and management.
  • Review and enhance daily processes and tasks to streamline and improve workflow.
  • Provide audit support through the timely generation of accurate schedules and documentation.
  • Create and maintain sufficient and appropriate procedural documentation.
  • Assist with SOX compliance and reporting.
  • Analyze cost variance reports and profitability by item and customer.
Required Skills:
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in Excel, with intermediate skills in other Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to identify and investigate accounting issues independently and communicate findings effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Familiarity with a manufacturing or processing environment is preferred.
Required Experience and Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting is required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience is preferred.
  • CPA License, CMA License, or MBA is preferred.
