Role Summary

The Nursing Simulation Faculty will engage in the operational functions of the UNCG Simulation Center for Experiential Nursing Education (SCENE). This role involves providing expertise in simulation methodologies and technologies, thereby enhancing the educational experiences for nursing students. The faculty member will collaborate with course instructors to design, implement, and assess simulation and laboratory learning activities aligned with the School of Nursing's mission and strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Act as a simulation expert, assisting faculty in developing and implementing effective practices for simulation and laboratory experiences.
  2. Collaborate with the SCENE Director and Simulation Technology Specialist to oversee equipment and supply management.
  3. Ensure the operational readiness of all simulation and laboratory equipment.
  4. Coordinate with the SCENE Director for scheduling laboratory space and resource allocation.
  5. Provide training and support to faculty in the development and evaluation of simulation scenarios.
  6. Work with program directors and course faculty to plan and assess practice labs and simulation activities.
  7. Assist in managing open practice lab hours for student use.
  8. Support the Simulation and Laboratory Director in setting annual goals for simulation initiatives.
  9. Evaluate the effectiveness and outcomes of simulation and laboratory activities.
  10. Contribute to grant applications and reporting as needed.
  11. Network and collaborate with local, regional, and national entities to promote best practices in simulation education.
  12. Utilize platforms for tracking simulation activities across undergraduate and graduate programs.
  13. Engage in research related to teaching and learning in nursing education.
  14. May be required to teach nursing skills courses during the summer term.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A graduate degree in Nursing is required.
  • An unencumbered RN license in North Carolina must be obtained prior to employment.
  • Experience in simulation and clinical education settings is essential.
  • A willingness to pursue Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator credential is expected.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of leadership experience in simulation or clinical education.
  • A doctoral degree in nursing or a related field is preferred.
  • Certification as a Healthcare Simulation Educator is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with innovative practices in simulation education is desirable.
