Key ResponsibilitiesThe Hospice Aide is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective delivery of care services to patients in accordance with their personalized care plans, under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. This role requires the safe and efficient use of medical equipment and supplies. A holistic approach is essential, taking into account the physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and educational needs of patients, as well as their safety and related criteria appropriate to their age.
Strong communication skills are necessary, including the ability to read, write, and verbally convey clinical information to patients, their families, and other hospice personnel. The aide must also be aware of how personal, spiritual, and cultural values can influence perceptions of death and dying, and how these factors affect the quality of life.
QualificationsEducation:
Completion of a Nursing Assistant Training Program with a minimum of 75 hours is required, with no gaps of 24 months without compensation for Home Care Aide/CNA work since completion. A 120-hour nursing assistant course is preferred. A High School diploma or GED is also preferred.
Experience:
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, in compliance with regulatory standards. Previous experience in hospice care within a nursing or hospice facility for 2-5 years is preferred.
