Registered Nurse

Summit BHC is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in providing high-quality patient care in a behavioral health setting. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care to patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care plans.
Key Responsibilities- Provide and coordinate care by assessing physical and behavioral health needs of patients, developing and implementing nursing care plans, and maintaining accurate medical records.
- Assess patient status on an ongoing basis and document pertinent information.
- Ensure nursing treatment plans are specific to assessed needs and initial treatment plans are completed upon admission.
- Accurately administer medications per ordered note and document accurate count of controlled substances.
- Notify physicians of significant changes in patient status, such as difficulties with detox, medical emergencies, or changes in medical status regarding response to medications.
- Supervise self-administration of medications using safety initiatives, including two means of patient identification, and document effects of scheduled and PRN medications.
- Maintain accountability of administration, recording, control, and security of medications, including narcotics.
- Complete admission and discharge processes efficiently and accurately as directed.
- Confer regularly with treatment teams regarding patient care, attend and participate in unit activities, and provide education/explanation to patients, families, and coworkers regarding medication usage/maintenance, common side effects, patient rights, and other topics necessary for optimal patient care.
- Monitor patient acuity, census, and staffing needs, and make arrangements for coverage as needed, following established guidelines.
- Assure thorough, accurate documentation is completed for all patients on each shift and patient assignment sheets are completed daily and tasks are carried out as assigned.
- Provide thorough reports to oncoming staff, supervisors, and physicians.
- Graduation from an approved/accredited school of nursing.
- One or more years' nursing experience within clinical area of service provided by facility preferred.
- Experience in behavioral health/psychiatric/addiction recovery environment preferred.
- Valid current RN license from the state or from a compact state, where applicable.
- Certified in Psychiatric Nursing preferred.
- CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
- First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
