Job Overview

Position Summary:
The Fiber Splicer is a skilled professional adept in the preparation, bonding, grounding, and splicing of fiber optic cables. This role requires the ability to interpret blueprints and splice diagrams effectively.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, prepare, and splice fiber optic cabling in various environments, with knowledge of mid-span cable entry.
  • Perform splicing on both loose tube and ribbon fiber optic cables.
  • Utilize technical equipment, including laptops, OTDRs, power meters, and fusion splicing tools.
  • Read and interpret existing fiber records, whether on maps or in the field.
  • Document daily production and materials through comprehensive reports.
  • Construct splice cases, ensuring proper grounding, bonding, isolation, slack storage, sealing, and mounting.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve on-site issues effectively.
  • Adhere to design engineer instructions meticulously.
  • Work from elevated positions using bucket trucks or ladders.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, including hard hats, reflective clothing, work boots, and safety goggles.
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
  • Travel as required for project assignments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
  • Capability to work in both rural and congested traffic areas.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to safety practices.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Experience operating various hand tools and basic computer equipment.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Prior splicing experience.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Experience in aerial cable installation.
  • Certification as a Pole Climber.

Compensation:
$40.00 Hourly
