Key Responsibilities
The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for delivering direct patient care while overseeing the nursing functions within a designated unit. In the absence of the Manager or Director, this role assumes comprehensive nursing responsibilities for a 24-hour period. The supervisor will work closely with a specific patient demographic.
Our General Medicine units are accredited by The Joint Commission for their excellence in managing patients with conditions such as Pneumonia and COPD. Additionally, this role provides the chance to engage with a diverse range of patients, including those with Sickle Cell, Chronic Pain, Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Behavioral Health issues, Renal Failure, and Diabetes.
Required Qualifications
1. Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a minimum of one (1) year of experience in the relevant specialty. 2. An Associate's Degree accompanied by three (3) years of clinical experience, or a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with two (2) years of clinical experience. 3. Proven ability to prioritize tasks and make sound clinical and supervisory decisions. Strong problem-solving skills are essential. 4. Demonstrated leadership qualities. 5. Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is mandatory. 6. Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or NRP may be required based on departmental needs.
Preferred Qualifications
Successful completion of a management training program prior to appointment, or within six (6) months of employment. Previous experience in a management or charge nurse role is advantageous. National Certification in a Clinical Specialty is also preferred.
