This National Guard position is for a COMMUNICATIONS SECURITY SPECIALIST (T32), and is part of the Air National Guard Units.

Responsibilities
1. Acts as the primary COMSEC Responsible Officer (CRO) within a strategically tasked Air Refueling Operations Group. Conducts research and interprets communications security mandates for all peacetime and wartime operations.

Manages a communications security (COMSEC) sub-element, ensuring a ready-library of printed and electronic cryptographic materials, equipment, and the necessary infrastructure to support the organization's aircraft and crew.

2. Contributes detailed content to the wing's combat mission folders (CMFs) and is a key member of the wing's CMF validation team. Prepares kits of specified communications security materials for in-flight missions and delivers pre-launch briefings to crews, covering mission-specific communications, identification, authentication, and safe passage instructions.

Conducts debriefings for aircrew members and investigates significant events such as communications deficiencies, equipment malfunctions, or other vulnerabilities to U.S. cryptographic systems.

3. Serves as the organization’s main authority on Communications Security (COMSEC) material training, access, storage, and usage. Functions as the Cryptographic Access Program (CAP) administrator, managing access to U.S. cryptographic and national security information.

Maintains up-to-date knowledge of national security policies to develop and implement formal training programs for all users.

4. Performs duties within a secure environment utilizing various office automation equipment, including classified and unclassified systems, secure communication devices, and intrusion detection systems.

Operates specialized portable computer systems and cryptographic key delivery systems while analyzing the communications needs of unit missions.

Qualifications
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

This is an excepted service position that necessitates membership in a compatible military grade in the Air National Guard.


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must substantiate their qualifications through detailed descriptions of their experience related to communications equipment, systems, and operational requirements.


SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

1-year experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, demonstrating knowledge of communications systems, electronic communications principles, and operational requirements.


Education Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience:
Graduate Education:

Major study in fields such as electrical engineering, computer science, or telecommunications management may substitute for specialized experience.


Other Education:

Advanced training in communications/electronics or data processing may be considered for general experience.
