Job Summary

Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as a Clinical Unit Supervisor for our Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit. As a Clinical Unit Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and leading a team of healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Supervise and lead a team of RNs and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless delivery of patient care.
    • Develop and implement unit-specific policies and procedures to promote a culture of excellence and patient safety.
    • Collaborate with the Nurse Manager and other stakeholders to achieve unit and hospital goals.
  • Patient Care
    • Provide direct patient care as needed, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
    • Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and services.
  • Staff Development and Education
    • Develop and implement educational programs to enhance staff knowledge and skills.
    • Provide coaching and mentoring to staff members to promote professional growth and development.
    • Collaborate with the Nurse Manager to develop and implement unit-specific competency programs.
  • Quality and Performance Improvement
    • Participate in quality and performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
    • Collaborate with the Nurse Manager and other stakeholders to identify and implement process improvements.
    • Monitor and report on unit-specific metrics and performance indicators.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor of Sciences degree in nursing (individuals hired without a BSN will be required to complete a degree program within 5 years of their hire date).
  • Qualifications/Experience
    • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience in Medical/Surgical/Telemetry nursing with regard to regulatory guidelines and standard of practice; minimum one (1) year of Clinical Unit Supervisor experience.
    • Current California Nursing license.
    • Certification in Medical/Surgical Nursing preferred.
    • Basic EKG Competence.
  • Special Skills/Knowledge
    • Bilingual skills preferred (Spanish).
    • Basic computer skills.
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
    • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
    • Experience with Electronic Medical Record preferred.
