Job Overview

The Child Well-Being Specialist serves as the primary liaison for issues concerning child welfare at Deployed Services locations.

Key Responsibilities:


• Observe the surroundings, interpersonal interactions, and both verbal and nonverbal signals to evaluate concerns regarding child welfare and promote suitable interactions among staff, families, and children.


• Recommend strategies that utilize available resources and coordinate interventions and case management to enhance child welfare.


• Collaborate with management on care decisions for children with medical, psychological, physical, developmental, behavioral, or safety requirements that necessitate ongoing attention.


• Aid in documenting and transferring information for complex placements of children with special needs.


• Actively engage with children to recognize and address signs of distress or risk.


• Provide continuous education for staff, share success stories, and offer insights into culturally competent care.


• Report activities to leadership through shift reports and supervisory meetings.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills:


• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite


• Ability to support multiple locations through consistent communication and data analysis


• Effective communication with site and government personnel


• Experience in a multidisciplinary team setting


• Capacity to function in a dynamic and evolving program environment


• Strong communication and collaboration skills


• Excellent prioritization and problem-solving capabilities


• Strong research abilities and attention to detail


• Flexible availability to work around the clock

Education and Experience:


• Master’s degree in behavioral health or a related field; doctoral degree preferred


• Licensed Social Worker (LCSW or LICSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Doctor-level psychologist (LP) or equivalent within the relevant state(s)


• Minimum of 2 years of experience in child development, culturally aware and trauma-informed care, conducting clinical assessments in direct engagement with children and their families


• Prior experience in an immigration context is strongly preferred


• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred


• Authorized to work in the U.S. and able to travel as needed


• Must pass drug screening, motor vehicle record check, and background investigation.
