We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our Orthopedic Surgery team at Montefiore Medical Center. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional patient care and work collaboratively with our surgeons to deliver high-quality medical services.
Responsibilities- Obtain patient histories and perform physical examinations, ordering and performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, formulating diagnoses, and developing treatment plans.
- Prescribe medications for patients and communicate effectively with healthcare teams and patients.
- Participate in a team approach to healthcare, acting as a liaison between primary care teams and other healthcare providers.
- Perform emergency procedures, including basic and advanced life support, in the presence of life-threatening situations.
- Collaborate with attending physicians and other healthcare providers to coordinate patient care.
- Perform procedures, including insertion and removal of arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, and other medical devices.
- Assist surgeons in the operating room for inpatient and ambulatory cases.
- Develop and implement training and orientation modules for new surgical PAs and mentor existing PAs.
- Prepare data for departmental studies and projects as needed.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
- Oversee completion and submission of routine and special reports.
- Master's degree with a PA specialty.
- Graduate of an accredited Physician's Assistant program.
- Registered as a PA in the state of NY, NCCPA certified.
- Minimum 10 years of work experience.
- Knowledge of routine patient care equipment, routine intraoperative Orthopedic equipment, and automated medical information systems.
