Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician (Psychiatry) to join our team at the Department of Defense. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric medical care to a broad range of patients with both common and complex medical concerns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough bio-psycho-social assessments as appropriate for discipline.
  • Provide treatment services, including inpatient services, consultation liaison services, partial hospitalization, day programs, emergency psychiatric services, tele-psychiatric services, and routine and intensive outpatient services.
  • Evaluate care provided to patients at MTF, identify opportunities to change the care delivered, advise on difficult or complex cases, and make recommendations such as hospitalization or determining a service member's fitness for duty.
  • Determine and provide mental health assessment of fitness and suitability for duty and deployments of service members based on psychiatric clinical assessment.
Requirements
  • Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least one year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training.
  • Applicants must have successfully completed the required accredited residency training in the specialty of the position to be filled (Psychiatry) and equivalent experience and training equal to at least 5 years.
Working Conditions

This position may require the incumbent to work weekends and holidays.

The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

A background investigation and credit check are required.

Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.

This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing.

Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact.

This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.

Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross.

Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.

Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
