Position Summary:

In the role of Custodial Services and Transportation Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering both cleaning and driving support for the organization. This includes managing the intake of supplies, maintaining outdoor areas, and ensuring that cleanliness standards are upheld. Your contributions will play a vital role in fulfilling the mission of The Salvation Army.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute daily cleaning tasks as directed
  • Dust and sanitize all surfaces, including windows, doors, desks, and furniture
  • Ensure carpets are well-maintained through thorough vacuuming and spot cleaning
  • Care for hard surfaces such as tile and concrete through various cleaning methods
  • Conduct spot cleaning for walls and fixtures as necessary
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness, including counters and appliances
  • Manage waste disposal and recycling efforts
  • Report maintenance needs promptly
  • Assist in organizing maintenance proposals
  • Keep cleaning supplies organized and accessible
  • Support minor building repairs when required
  • Drive to collect food donations and assist with unloading
  • Prepare spaces for various events
  • Participate in seasonal initiatives such as holiday programs
  • Perform outdoor maintenance tasks including landscaping and snow removal
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned by supervisory staff

Qualifications:

Education: A High School Diploma is required.

Background Checks: A background investigation is mandatory for this position.

Experience: Previous janitorial experience is preferred; familiarity with driving a pickup truck and trailer is advantageous.

Certifications: A valid driver's license is required, along with compliance to The Salvation Army's driving standards. Completion of Safe From Harm training is expected within the first 90 days of employment.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in English, both written and verbal, for effective communication
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office and capable of learning new reporting systems
  • Knowledgeable about cleaning products and safe chemical usage

Supervisory Duties: Oversee volunteers and groups as necessary.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and standing for extended periods
  • Good manual dexterity and sensory abilities

Travel Requirements: Travel may be necessary; a valid driver's license is essential.

Work Environment: Duties are performed in various settings, including office and outdoor environments, with potential evening and weekend hours.
