Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Oncology Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Oncology Nurse Practitioner to join our team at UMMS Providers/Physicians. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, collaborating with healthcare teams, and contributing to the development of comprehensive care plans.
Key Responsibilities- Perform daily rounds of patients on inpatient and ambulatory services, evaluating patients and writing consults as needed.
- Deliver healthcare to cancer patients, providing level of care and intervention consistent with the highest quality.
- Facilitate optimal length of stay and arrange for discharge and follow-up care.
- Write orders on patients, including ordering laboratory tests, x-rays, and medications.
- Round on designated patients, ensuring they meet criteria for monitoring and consulting with physicians as needed.
- Assist in the management of patients, referring pertinent issues to healthcare professionals and collaborating with other team members.
- Document patient charts and participate in performance improvement initiatives and quality monitoring.
- Active participation in cancer events, cancer committee, and role modeling for other staff members.
- Current Maryland license in good standing as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Life Support Certification: Basic Life Support – Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Completion of a graduate-level Accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program and Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, with diagnostic, therapeutic, and procedural competency in the appropriate area.
