As a Laboratory Assistant at Yoh, a Day & Zimmermann company, you will play a vital role in supporting our laboratory professionals in performing various routine laboratory functions. Your attention to detail and ability to work accurately will be essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory.
Key Responsibilities:
• Sort and receive specimens in the department
• Perform routine instrument maintenance on some equipment
• Centrifuge specimens, print extra labels, record data, and store and retrieve specimens
• Prepare reagents and media in the department
• Prepare specimens at workstations for testing
• Perform QA/QC duties as assigned
• Resolve pending lists, find missing samples, and decontaminate work areas
• Perform weekly radioactive wipe tests and maintain files for department records
• Change gas cylinders and follow all PPE requirements and safety regulations
• Use the laboratory computer system and operate PCs
• Dispose of biohazardous material and complete training and competency checklists as appropriate
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous laboratory experience preferred
• Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
