Position Summary
As an integral member of our plant engineering division, the Chemical Production Specialist will spearhead initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable practices while ensuring consistent product quality to satisfy our clientele across North and South America.

Key Responsibilities
  • Optimize chemical production processes for polyol manufacturing.
  • Conduct routine troubleshooting and monitoring of operations.
  • Perform heat and material balance assessments to identify optimal operating conditions and mitigate efficiency losses.
  • Analyze key process variables and formulate action plans to enhance efficiency, product quality, and plant uptime.
  • Explore avenues for cost reduction and yield enhancement.
  • Lead lean six sigma initiatives.
  • Facilitate Management of Change (MOCs) for the operations team.
  • Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures and strive to become a subject matter expert in production processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and site-specific health, safety, security, and environmental regulations.
  • Assist with additional duties as assigned by management and support team members as needed.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing, chemical, or refinery setting.
  • Familiarity with Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
  • In-depth knowledge of batch and continuous chemical manufacturing maintenance.
  • Experience with process control systems.

You should demonstrate a high level of integrity and objectivity in decision-making, leveraging data effectively. A self-starter with excellent organizational skills is essential, as is the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Proficiency in technical writing is required to produce high-quality reports and procedures.

Additional Information
This position involves both indoor and outdoor work, with up to 50% of time spent in a manufacturing environment. Employees may encounter various weather conditions and exposure to noise, chemicals, and other elements typical of a production facility. Routine use of office equipment and communication tools is required.
