Job Description

At Ambulatory Surgery Center Of Western New York Operations LLC, we are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technician to join our team.

The Surgical Technician will work under the supervision of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Focus on patient priorities with a kind and caring attitude to ensure quality care.
  2. Check supplies and equipment needed for the procedure.
  3. Prepare the sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for the procedure.
  4. Perform appropriate counts with the circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed.
  5. Gown and glove surgeons and assistants.
  6. Help in draping the sterile field.
  7. Pass instruments, etc., to the surgeon during the procedure.
  8. Maintain the highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure.
  9. Prepare sterile dressings.
  10. Assist other members of the team with cleaning the room and prepping the room for the next patient.
  11. Obtain and prepare specimens as required.
  12. Actively participate in the Time Out procedure.
  13. Pick cases for future procedures.
  14. Communicate preference card information to the circulator.

Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience:

A graduate of an approved Operating Room Technician school.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.

Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of radiation.

The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
