Job Description and Duties

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Data Specialist I GIS to join our team at the Department of Fish and Wildlife. As a key member of our Biogeographic Data Branch, you will play a critical role in supporting our Lands Program and Wildfire Resiliency Initiative.

Lands Program Responsibilities
  • Act as the lead GIS specialist for the Lands Program, providing expert guidance and support to our team.
  • Compile and analyze data to inform decision-making and reduce wildfire risk.
  • Collaborate with Regional GIS and scientific staff to coordinate efforts related to lands management.
Wildfire Resiliency Initiative Support

You will work closely with our team to provide analysis and support for projects aimed at reducing wildfire risk. This will involve compiling data, conducting research, and developing recommendations for our stakeholders.

Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work at a desk using a computer keyboard for several hours a day. You will also be required to attend meetings, work with staff statewide, and occasionally travel within California via private or public transportation.
