Job Title: Building Maintenance Repairer

We are seeking a skilled Building Maintenance Repairer to join our team at Kamehameha Schools. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for performing general maintenance and minor repairs to buildings, facilities, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist trades workers, contractors, and Building Maintenance Repairer III in the skilled maintenance trades, including electrical, mechanical, carpentry, painting, masonry, and welding.
  • Provide instruction and supervision to Building Maintenance Repairer I.
  • Assess materials and tools required for work to be performed efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Prepare or instruct others to prepare work areas for work to be performed, and clean or instruct others to clean work areas, machines, and equipment following work completion.
  • Independently perform unskilled work to maintain and repair buildings, building systems, equipment, and interior finishes, or minor skilled maintenance and repair tasks.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with basic computer knowledge.
  • 3 years of work experience in building maintenance, general construction, or other related field.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Able to be certified to operate forklift, scissor lift, and/or skid loader.
  • Good work ethic, including punctuality and good attendance.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to continuously learn new skills and knowledge.
  • Ability to train and instruct others in the performance of unskilled work.
  • Basic arithmetic and geometry.
  • Ability to read and comprehend training materials and correctly instruct others.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow safety instructions and correctly instruct others.
  • Ability to interpret sketches for work to be performed.
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules to accommodate after-hours school-related functions and activities.
  • Demonstrated values of inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Trade school or related certification.
  • CDL License.
Working Conditions:

Work may involve exposure to extreme temperatures and contact with hazardous materials, dust, dirt, smoke, unpleasant odors, loud noises, etc. Works in partnership and as a team with other team members in performing a wide range of services. Often work outdoors and indoors. Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but evening and weekend hours may be required to meet goals and objectives.
