Responsibilities:
As a Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing nursing care to inmates/detainees while maintaining a safe and secure workplace. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing nursing care within your capacity and referring other medical problems to the appropriate physician.
- Performing comprehensive physical assessments and medical histories.
- Periodically evaluating patients' symptoms, reactions, and progress, and reporting problems to the physician and management.
- Securingly administering medication, taking precautions against drug hoarding and trafficking.
- Ensuring prescribed medications are administered as instructed.
- Providing patient education for chronic illnesses, post-hospitalization, and post-surgical procedures.
- Supervising the workflow of the LPN staff and providing input into performance evaluations.
- Documenting all detainee/inmate contacts and keeping medical records confidential.
- Following industry and company accreditation policies.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- An Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an approved program and be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- A current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state where the facility is located.
- Two years of direct work experience preferred.
- Competence in crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessment, medical nursing care, and psychiatric nursing care.
- The ability to work without direct, immediate supervision in performing nursing diagnosis and provide appropriate follow-through treatment.
