Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Medical Assistant to support the mission at Ft. Belvoir. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, performing various clinical and administrative tasks, and working collaboratively with our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide exceptional patient care, including vital sign collection, specimen collection, and patient education.
  2. Perform various clinical tasks, such as EKG/ECG, point-of-care lab testing, and quality checks.
  3. Assist with treatment and diagnostic procedures, preparing equipment and areas.
  4. Position patients for procedures, observe patients for physical or emotional reactions, and provide reassurance during procedures.
  5. Assist with BCLS, maintain readiness of crash carts or AEDs, and perform other duties as assigned.
  6. Document patient information, including medical charting and patient log sheets.
  7. Participate in unit in-service instruction, quality assurance monitoring, and performance improvement.
  8. Assist with orientation and training of new staff members.
  9. Provide patient education and instructions on self-care, as per provider instructions and clinic SOP.
  10. Complete additional tasks as assigned by the clinic chief nurse or designated representative.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program or completion of military training as a medic, corpsman, or medical technician.
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification, CPR certification, and valid unrestricted medical license in at least one state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States.
  • At least one year of related clinic experience within the preceding three years.
  • Board Certification by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or American Registry Medical Assistants.
