About Electronics Careers in the US Navy

The US Navy offers a range of electronics careers that require innovative ideas and fast thinking. As an electronics professional in the Navy, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing complex electrical systems, including radar and communication networks.

Electronics Roles in the Navy

There are several electronics roles in the Navy, including:

  • Electronics Technician: Use radar and other complex ship systems to detect and track threats, and employ electronic countermeasures to confuse and deflect other radars and sensors.
  • Fire Controlman: Ready, aim, and fire some of the Navy's deadliest weapons, protecting the ship from inbound aircraft and conducting offensive strikes.
  • Interior Communications Electrician: Maintain alarms and secure communication networks on board Navy ships.
  • Gas Turbine Systems Technician - Electrical: Operate electrical plants, repair wiring and circuitry, and support powerful gas-turbine systems on Navy warships.
