Qualifications and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Certification in pipelaying is preferred.
  • Prior experience in pipelaying is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Determining and configuring pipe routes.
  • Aligning pipes within pipeline sections.
  • Excavating trenches using trenching tools.
  • Positioning pipes into excavated trenches.
  • Removing and replacing defective or misaligned pipes.
  • Inspecting joints to ensure proper alignment and spacing.
  • Laying pipes for stormwater and sanitation systems, as well as pressure pipes.
  • Grading trenches or culverts as necessary.
  • Sealing pipe joints effectively.
  • Utilizing adhesives or welding equipment to secure pipes.
  • Covering pipes with soil or other materials.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Comprehensive understanding of pipelaying techniques.
  • Familiarity with pipelayer hand signals.
  • Proficient in operating various pipelaying equipment.
  • Ability to interpret construction plans.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Capability to follow detailed instructions.

Physical Demands:

  • Extended periods of operating heavy machinery.
  • Willingness to work long hours, including evenings and weekends when required.
  • Ability to operate machinery in challenging weather conditions and terrains.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
