About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Construction Materials Testing Technician to join our Aviation team in Charlotte, NC. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that airport facilities, runways, hangars, and other construction sites meet industry standards and specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review construction plans and specifications to ensure seamless alignment with on-site observations
  • Conduct and observe testing and inspections of construction materials, including soil, concrete, asphalt, and other relevant materials, to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards
  • Utilize advanced software to document reporting and testing results
  • Calibrate equipment to industry standards to ensure precision in testing processes
  • Conduct Special Inspection observations to enforce regulatory compliance and quality assurance on projects
  • Maintain open communication with stakeholders to foster trust and transparency, driving success of our projects
Requirements
  • High school diploma/GED
  • 2+ years of experience in construction materials testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials or equivalent experience and an associate degree in a related field
  • Proficient in data entry into multiple software applications on a smart device, using Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Good math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure
  • 1 or More Active Certification(s) Required:
    • American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician; DOT Certifications in the fields of Aggregate, Conventional Density, Asphalt, and Concrete
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
  • Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs. (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
  • Traveling out-of-town (may include overnight) for assignments as necessary
  • Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
