Transportation Infrastructure Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highway Maintenance Technician to join our team at the State of Montana. As a key member of our transportation infrastructure team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to highway maintenance, including laborer, lead worker, equipment operator, and truck driver.
Key Responsibilities- Operate a variety of equipment, including trucks, to perform regular maintenance activities such as ditch cleaning, patching, overlays, fence repairs, lawn mowing, and material or equipment transportation.
- Load sanding material and perform snow removal and sanding in winter.
- Perform preoperational checking, scheduled servicing, and add fluids, and change pins, cutting edges, etc. for overall functional operation of machines.

- Requires knowledge of highway maintenance and equipment typically assigned to a section, including basic diesel/gasoline vehicle maintenance.
- Requires one (1) year experience driving heavy truck and operating construction equipment; basic math, computers, and record keeping; and the ability to make estimates of materials needed.
- A valid Montana Class A Type II Commercial Operators license with endorsements for air brakes and tanker is required.
- Salary is based on MDT time in grade, classroom training, practical experience, and successful completion of the MDT Maintenance Academy.
- City and county road maintenance experience will be considered.
