Job Summary and Qualifications

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-focused care by performing various essential patient care tasks under the guidance of a registered nurse (RN). The PCT plays a vital role in supporting the nursing staff and ensuring a safe and organized patient care environment while adhering to hospital policies and state regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in implementing nursing care plans by providing direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.
  • Collect and document patient information throughout their care journey, including vital signs and other relevant data.
  • Support patient mobility through regular repositioning and assistance with ambulation and transfers.
  • Facilitate specimen collection for diagnostic tests, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
  • Assist patients with daily living activities such as eating, bathing, and grooming.
  • Act as a Monitor/Telemetry Technician when required.
  • Engage in best practices that enhance patient safety and communication.

Requirements:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification from the American Heart Association; CPI training for Behavioral Health preferred.
  • Preferred experience of at least one year in a healthcare setting as a PCT.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. with frequent lifting of objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
