Central Service Technician I

Bronson Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Central Service Technician I to join our team. As a Central Service Technician I, you will be responsible for the decontamination, assembly, sterilization, storage, and dispensing of surgical instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Obtain a working knowledge of infection control and its application to surgical instrumentation and equipment
  • Learn and become familiar with medical terminology and basic anatomy
  • Identify disposable items needed for surgical cases and retrieve them as required
  • Work cooperatively with all levels of staff in surgery to ensure efficient and effective processing of instrumentation
  • Practice within the guidelines of the Reprocessing Department policies and procedures
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Successful completion of organization, unit, and job-specific competencies within a 90-day orientation period
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, including surgical schedules, sterilizer printouts, and instructions for use
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with others
  • Ability to accurately perform basic mathematical skills and utilize computer programs
  • Ability to learn and retain knowledge of surgical instrumentation, medical terminology, human anatomy, sterilization practices, and aseptic technique
Working Conditions:

This position involves work that produces levels of mental/visual fatigue typical of jobs that perform a wide variety of technical duties with frequent and significant uncontrollable deadlines. Work may include the operation of a personal computer or CRT up to 40 percent of the time.
