Successful candidates will be assigned to the appropriate job title and compensation within the Respiratory Therapist career framework, reflecting their experience and educational background.

This position operates on a Day Shift schedule, primarily within the NICU/PICU settings.

Availability to work every third weekend and alternate holidays is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interprets physician prescriptions, evaluates arterial blood gases, and reviews patient data to assess conditions and determine necessary treatments, including therapy types and medication dosages.
  • Facilitates the safe transport of patients on mechanical ventilation and responds to emergency situations.
  • Maintains accurate patient records, including therapy details and necessary repairs, while also mentoring trainees and supervising students.
  • Sets up and operates respiratory devices, ensuring compliance with treatment parameters such as volume, gas concentration, humidity, and temperature.
  • Monitors and adjusts equipment to achieve optimal therapeutic outcomes, ensuring safety and efficiency.
  • Evaluates medical orders and interprets clinical data to meet patient care objectives.
  • Observes patients' physiological responses to therapy, including vital signs and blood gas levels, and assists with breathing exercises and pulmonary function tests.
  • Graduation from a Co ARC accredited Respiratory program is mandatory.
  • A valid Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in Pennsylvania is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is essential.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) is required, with maintenance of certification as per NBRC standards.
  • Compliance with Act 31, Act 33, Act 34, and Act 73 clearances is necessary.
