Position Overview

The CDL Class B Truck Operator plays a crucial role in transporting our seafood products efficiently and safely. This position involves operating a tractor trailer or straight truck on both urban and highway routes to deliver goods to our valued customers. Additionally, the driver will assist in product pick-up from the airport and facilitate the movement of products between various company locations.

Effective communication is essential in this role, as the driver will interact with customers, vendors, and colleagues. Maintaining a professional demeanor and adhering to company customer service standards is expected.

This hourly position is eligible for overtime and primarily covers shifts from Thursday to Monday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate tractor trailers with loads exceeding 10,000 pounds.
  • Inspect cargo to ensure proper packing and safety.
  • Deliver products to designated locations according to the scheduled route.
  • Ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Load and organize inventory from the warehouse into the vehicle and unload as necessary throughout the day.
  • Adhere to all traffic regulations and company safety protocols.
  • Comply with state and company safety requirements during loading and unloading.
  • Document delivery confirmations upon arrival at client locations.
  • Collect signatures from recipients at delivery points.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of verifiable experience in tractor trailer driving.
  • At least 1 year of experience in urban driving.
  • Experience in the food manufacturing sector, particularly seafood or meat processing, is advantageous.
  • Willingness to work weekends as required.
  • Must successfully pass a DOT physical examination.
  • Possession of a valid Class B Driver's License is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklifts is a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in driving and parking tractor trailers.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe and productive work environment.
  • Encourage teamwork and open communication among peers.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to lift weights ranging from 30 to 50 pounds.
  • Capable of working up to 10 hours a day, with significant standing and walking.
  • Proficient in hand use for tasks requiring grasping, manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to perform bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching motions.
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning agents.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, including below freezing.
  • Willingness to work in both wet and dry conditions.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives.
