We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by performing and analyzing clinical laboratory tests.
Key Responsibilities- Process and analyze samples in a timely and orderly fashion, meeting usual and customary levels of productivity.
- Set up, run, maintain, and adjust laboratory instruments according to policies and procedures.
- Take appropriate action for quality control in all technical areas and follow infection control procedures.
- Perform phlebotomy procedures on patients as needed.
- Complete forms and reports findings to nurses and/or physicians.
- Interact with other healthcare workers to solve problems and interpret patient lab results.
- Perform routine and basic laboratory testing within a designated area in the clinical laboratory.
- Recognize testing inconsistency and takes appropriate corrective action.
- Maintain all patient and specimen records accurately, neatly, and legibly.
- Follow hospital, state, and federal guidelines for ensuring a safe environment for workers, patients, and public.
- Associates degree in Medical Laboratory or Laboratory Sciences (MLT).
- Current WV Licensure, or applicable state, as a Medical Technician within 90 days of hire.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).
- Experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician.
