Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Food Service Utility Worker to join our team at UMass Memorial Health. As a Food Service Utility Worker, you will play a critical role in ensuring the cleanliness and organization of our food service areas.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Set up, stock, and sanitize workstations according to standard procedures.
  2. Collect and dispose of all refuse according to department policy, and hand wash pots/pans according to standard procedure.
  3. Clean steam kettles, grills, ovens, carts, exhaust hood, refrigerators, tray line equipment, floors, walls, ceilings, and other related equipment according to standard procedures.
  4. Store various food, paper, and chemical supplies in appropriate areas, fill handwashing soap and paper towel dispensers, rotate and date items following standard procedures, and store perishables in an appropriate manner.
  5. Clean work areas, equipment in main kitchen and/or patient units as directed, assist in care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies, maintain work areas in clean, orderly, and safe condition, maintain equipment in good working order, and report any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdown immediately to supervisor.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school education or equivalent.
  • The ability to carry out instructions and procedures that are standardized.
  • The ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • An understanding of basic weights and measures.
  • An understanding of basic mathematical functions.
  • The ability to stoop and lift 30 pounds and push and pull 300 pounds.
